Since we're talking about all things work and study...

I hate politics. And I hate agendas. Work should be about applying your skills and knowledge in the best way possible as part of a team to achieve your common objective - to produce something that will improve the way you or someone else works.

In my brief experience of it, when politics and personal agendas come into play it just makes doing your job much more difficult and generally makes your working environment unpleasant. Objectives have to be changed, you have to do things you necessarily wouldn't to cover your @ss, and also to maintain the 'political' decorum.

Its crap, and in some ways I do not want to get drawn into playing the political games - but unless you are in a position of power, you have to play by 'their' rules to make sure you get your job done.

My name is jack.

And I'm a baboon-aholic.

I've been known to have low self-esteem around women, suffer from extreme bouts of shy-ness and am unable to relate socially with women I am interested in. I have also been known to make a fool of myself after having a few too many to drink. I have an extreme fear of rejection, therefore better to not put my ego on the line - unless I'm sure of their intentions I will not put myself out there to be knocked back. Unfortunately, being a baboon-aholic, I'm also unable to read signs, therefore it really is a catch-22 situation.

I am currently single, and have no prospects in the near future.

"in the far away lands of baboonia there lived a young baboon..."

hmm, perhaps in some parallel universe there are baboons roaming this world, and perhaps all the female baboons are rockety rockets. They'd eat human flesh and think it tastes like chicken. They'll also have hot and spicy human, original recipe human with 11 herbs and spices, not to mention they'll have Babibs in Babstown with their very own patented banana sauce. Bananas, banana leaf and banana blossom would be those vegetarian baboons' favourite dishes.

Maybe human flesh really does taste like chicken, has anybody tried?

i should go home.

You baboons have already heard this from myself, so for the uninformed, today I got well and truly shafted by my loving company.

I get into work this morning and people had begun to talk about an article that appeared in todays financial press about the sale of our operations to another firm based in Melbourne. People stopped working and hobbled about like lost monkeys trying to find out what the hell is going on, a damage control meeting was pulled together: "The article in the newspaper is purely speculation, we haven't signed any agreement, so we can't release any information, we haven't signed anything..." err ok...that was at 11am

2pm swings around, and the big guy of our area holds another meeting "After many months of deliberation, we have gone to tender... " he continues with "...the new firm will have 30 positions available..." ok, 30 roles available for 300 people.. at which point i had enough of the bullshit that was stuttering out of his mouth so i switched off, he looked like a dickhead in any case. He'd taken 45 precious minutes of my life, seriously, he could've just said "hello everyone, we've signed, and 90% of you guys are gonna lose your job, good day"

NO NO NO, YOU go get F*cked!

3pm - another... meeting...
You will have to APPLY and be INTERVIEWED for the 30 positions available in Melbourne, applications close in 14 days
My redundancy will be announced at the discretion my current employer so at any time, on any day some fat bloke can come up to me and say "sorry mate, it's all over red rover, your 4 weeks notice starts today"

me bitter? course not.
